The legacy of G. Shankerdas & Sons.

Fourteen milestones from a Freetown trading house to a national manufacturer.

  1. 1939

    Founding Era

    G. Shankerdas & Sons was established by Mr. Gagandas Mahboobani (1892–1961) as a Trading & Merchandising House.

  2. 1944

    Expansion Under Leadership

    Mr. Shankerdas G. Mahboobani (25/11/1925 – 10/06/2017) joins the management and spearheads company expansion.

  3. 1961

    Industrial Activities Begin

    Acquisition of M. Jourdan & Co. Limited; starts industrial activities in wine production and bottling.

  4. 1976

    Next Generation Management

    Dr. Kishore Shankerdas inducted into the management team.

  5. 1978

    Plastics Expansion

    Major manufacturing expansion under Dr. Kishore Shankerdas's aegis; Plastic Factory established.

  6. 1979

    Distillery & Bottling Automation

    State-of-the-Art Distillery set up, Bottling Plant expanded, and conduit pipe plant initialized.

  7. 1980–1989

    Product Diversification

    Diversified into Candle manufacturing, Tissue manufacturing, Cosmetics, and the renowned Pegapak line.

  8. 1996

    R.K. Distilleries Formation

    Asset acquisition of Wellington Distilleries to form R.K. Distilleries.

  9. 1999–2002

    Reconstruction & Resilience

    Factory complex burnt to the ground by rebels during civil unrest. Reconstructed and expanded stronger than before — never looked back since!

  10. 2002

    Launch of Beeta Kola

    The launch of the famous Beeta Kola herbal beverage.

  11. 2003

    Water Tank Technology

    Plastic Water Tanks manufacturing technology setup alongside capacity augmentation of the drinking water plant.

  12. 2004

    Commercial Agriculture Launch

    PVC pipes manufacturing plant commissioned. Foray into commercial-scale agriculture with coconuts, cashew, and pineapple plantations.

  13. 2010

    Liberty Acquisition

    Acquisition of Liberty soft drinks brand and assets; official launch of the Ram drinks brand.

  14. 2016

    Board Expansion

    Mr. Ram Shankerdas inducted into the Board of Directors.
